Open Water Diver Certification
Course introduces students to the aquatic world and imparts the skills needed to safely perform open water dives with a certified buddy. The Open Water Certification is considered a major milestone in one's life and is a globally recognized achievement. Upon completion, Divers earn their initial PADI Open Water Diver Certification Card.
Course Cost: $500

Includes student training materials, tuition, and necessary rentals, except for personal snorkeling gear (Mask, Snorkel, Boots, Fins, Gloves). Discounts are available during training to the student diver for their personal snorkel gear through our partner dive shop, Ocean Sports Scuba and Free Diving of Lompoc, CA. Unlike some operations, there are no hidden fees or costs.
Open Water Training is conducted over multiple days, which include evening academic sessions, pool sessions, and two days of ocean dives. Students must be prepared for long training days and, as always, mother nature gets a vote, so training may have schedule changes due to conditions.

Our training focuses on student proficiency and safety. We will not sacrifice standards for time. Upon completion, new divers will be certified to venture into the ocean with confidence.
Advanced Open Water Diver Certification
Course expands the divers skill set and expose the diver to new conditions, which increases diver confidence and safety. Divers should enroll in their AOW class shortly after their OW certification to hone their skills and to expand their diving opportunities. Upon completion, Divers earn their PADI Advanced Open Water Certification Card.
Course Cost: $300

Includes student training materials and tuition; however, as certified divers, students are responsible for their own equipment. Additional equipment necessary for AOW training includes an underwater compass, dive computer, surface marker buoy (Safety Sausage), and, if a night dive is chosen, then the diver must procure a primary and backup dive light.

Divers will perform five training dives. A Deep Dive between 60 feet and 100 feet and a Navigation Dive with compass use are mandatory. The other three training dives may be selected after a discussion with the instructor. Training dives may include topics such as underwater photography, peak performance buoyancy, night diving, boat diving, drift diving, and even search and recovery

Open Water Diver Training is conducted over multiple days, which includes either online eLearning or evening academic sessions, then confined water training sessions in a pool, and then four lake or ocean dives. Length of training is up to 6-days. 2 days of evening academics and knowledge reviews with confined water training, followed by up to 4 days of open water training depending on weather and student performance. Students must be prepared for long training days and, as always, mother nature gets a vote, so training may have schedule changes due to conditions. If weather is cause for delay, we will do our best to relocate to a safer site or reschedule at no cost to the student. Not all students grasp the concepts immediately, but do not let that deter you from trying. If training standards are not met after 6 days of instructor contact time, the student will need to coordinate with the instructor for additional sessions. The instructor will provide specific feedback on areas requiring improvement and schedule an additional session locally at $100 per session to complete training and certification.

To be clear, passing this course is not a guarantee. Training focuses on student proficiency and safety. We will not sacrifice safety standards for time and we will not certify a diver who cannot meet minimum safety standards. It is our job to ensure you have the skills to truly enjoy the sport. If you merely scratch the surface of training, accidents are likely, and the joy is robbed from future dives.
Students exits training prepared to complete dives with their dive buddy, within their certification limits, and without an instructor. Earning your open water certification is exactly what it sounds like, it is demanding. After training with us, you'll know you've earned it.

All courses will require some specialized equipment, which are the divers responsibility to obtain prior to training. Please discuss any equipment needs with the instructor before purchase, to ensure you do not waste your money on junk kit or dangerous gimmicks. Some equipment may need to be ordered or procured from local dive shops well in advance of training dates. If you prefer the instructor to provide recommended equipment, please discuss this with the instructor and we can either order it ahead of training or help you order it through our preferred vendors or an equivalent brand.
"Let's Talk Gear Configuration"
Before you waste money.
Kit, like pictured here, should last from initial training all the way through advanced and technical diving. Divers should not solve a problem with more gear, or gimmicky gear. Your kit should be simple, durable, and reliable. Skills you build in every training course should carry forward and build, not start over. Relearning new kit each dive makes for stress and increases chances of mistakes and accidents. Let's Chat.
